Day 17: RIP Maria

San Francisco, CA

WHERE ARE YOU?
SF

WHAT'D YOU DO TODAY?
After a peaceful morning at our campsite we packed up and made our way to our next destination (Joshua Tree). Our plans were quickly sidetracked and then drastically delayed when we noticed the engine light on our new ride.

So once again we found ourselves waiting for news on the car in various cafes + falafel places in/near Hollywood (????? ??)

Bad news bears, the Mazda was worth too much trouble and so we made the decision to head back to San Fran to switch cars.

Lots of singing. Lots of podcasts. Lots of gas stations.

And then eventually, we found ourselves back in SF (told you we'd be back)

HOW YAH FEELIN?
Tired. Just very tired. But like what happened with Joey, I'm just happy that we're just able to roll with the punches and make this happen.

WHERE ARE YOU?
Here, there, everywhere.

WHAT'D YOU DO TODAY?
Morning was great! Woke up in Piru Lake surrounded by olive trees.

Got going on the road and then.....  :(

The engine light turned on and the day quickly turned into another day of waiting. Turns out the car is not suitable for the drive. Soooo...quick turnaroud, we decided to drive back to SF from LA to switch the car. LAST TIME.

At least we got a shower and a nice bed to sleep on (thanks Gilad). Also working on getting Sahm and Sam to start watching The Killing

HOW YAH FEELIN?
Hmmm..tired and upset but also surprisingly high spirited and jolly.

WHERE ARE YOU?
where weren't we?

WHAT'D YOU DO TODAY?
Hey guess what… just a few mo miles and we gots a whole lot mo cah prahblems.

Yesterday was like day 1 car prep, today is day 1 real CAR PROBLEMS.

Woke up this morning in Lake Piru ready to go and excited about the new landscape. A while in, the check engine light came on so we headed into the nearest shop wehre they impounded the babe (hestitantly named Maria?) and sent us packing, carless and aimless once again somewhere in LA.

We found a nice cafe where they sold fresh juiceeee, whatta life saver where we posted yesterdays journal and I watched a ton of Tyler, The Creator videos. When they didn’t call in the next couple hours, we headed out for a falafel lunch.

That’s when we got the news. Car #4 was a no go. With our only other option in San Francisco we drove up from our current spot (LA) back to San Francisco to grab the Honda and start our southern trek over again. But we got another shower and a good night sleep at Dana’s dad’s.

HOW YAH FEELIN?
These ladies really never cease to amaze me. No matter what’s happened, maybe we take our moment of silence but then everyone’s already moving forward. (A little worried we might be getting too adaptable though? Like how am I enjoying this 6 hour evening drive we just did only to turn around and do it again? Feels inhuman maybe? Should I be mad or somethin?)
