WHERE ARE YOU?
Atlanta, GA

WHAT’D YOU DO TODAY?
Georgia mornings have been late and slow starting, but today we got started working relatively “early” over at Octane, our cafe of choice the past few days.

After lunch, and because it was our last full day in Atlanta, we decided to stop by the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully wrap my head around how tumultuous the 1960’s was, and even more so, how familiar the racial tensions seem to be...

We then headed over to the Lennox Mall where Sam got some new pants and I got a convertor for my phone. Ended the day with dinner with Dariane and her friend.

HOW YAH FEELIN?
I honestly don’t know. Feeling a lot of different things. Thinking especially a lot about the conversation I had with my brother a few nights ago.

The biggest thing I can really rationalize at the moment is the fact that we’re leaving Georgia tomorrow after being here so *long*. Of course, I’m using the word long in context to our stay in other cities. I’ve started to get used to 2-3 days in each city and now I’ll have to get used to brief visits  again--although our time in Chicago is pretty lengthy, so maybe not.

Although we didn’t get to explore the city as much as I would’ve liked, and most of our exposure to the city was from the windows of various cafes, the sights we did get to see and all of the lovely people we met has made our stay here so sweet. Also shout out to Dariane for hosting us and dealing w our grandma asses.

WHAT'D YOU DO TODAY?
Woke up and left before 11am --> a new Atlanta record for us.

Worked a bit and learned some new photoshop tricks from Sahm, thanks Sahm.

Ate lunch at a delicious little place called We Suki Suki.

Then visited the MLK Historic Site.

Later went in search of jeans for Sam (found some)

Got din w/ Dair & her roomie.

Went home, chilled out, doing laundry.

Ready for bed.

HOW YAH FEELIN?
Reflecting on MLK, both surprised and not how real these issues fill today.

Loved how much Atlanta felt like home. I'm gonna miss the workflow we've had here but excited for a change of scenery.

Atlanta, choo know

WHAT'D YOU DO TODAY?
Got moving and to Octane earlier to get some stuff done. Felt loopy again. I think it’s partly lack of exercise or movement in general. Anyhoo, got some shit done, then finally went to see the Martin Luther King Jr. exhibit. Wow. I’m not sure how to fit a reflection in this space, so I guess in short, it was powerful. On many levels. I’m shocked they let me out of high school without knowing more of this. I’m glad I got to see it today, seeing this in the context of our current political state, fraught with racial tension and violence. And I’m happy to have gotten to hear a woman proudly explain her history to her six year old son. First time I’d really felt the fact I’d only been taught history by white men.

In the spirit of uprooting the system we went to the mall. I bought pants.

Then we had dinner with Dariane and her old roommate which was really fun. Also dinner was pretty delicious. Then the third Sam and David came over as per usual. Wouldn’t come to dinner though. They’re so funny.

Peace, Atlanta Bedtimes

HOW YAH FEELIN?
Exhausted, but happy we used our time more wisely today and got to see some of Atlanta, especially that exhibit. Feeling inspired and motivated. Also great to actually hang out with Dariane. I feel okay leaving, but I might miss Atlanta.
